Sim has advised and supported me on a number of projects – from setting up P4C in a school, training staff and embedding it in the curriculum, to, more recently, reviewing and mapping the PHSE and Citizenship curriculum, supporting staff in developing materials and overseeing the delivery of key events. She works well and effectively with senior school staff, those new to the profession and also with students. Sim has demonstrated the ability to plan strategically alongside school staff as well as the willingness to model good practice, develop resources and coach staff. Sympathetic to the needs of the school, Sim will provide expert advice and guidance on teaching, planning and resources.
Cath Smith, Headteacher, The John Roan School
Sim works with a range of education professionals who have been carefully selected for their outstanding classroom practice, specialist knowledge and engaging facilitation style. Whether it is delivering bespoke training to staff, workshops for students or curriculum materials - we have the specialist knowledge to deliver complex projects.
Sim is an expert in her field and delivers workshops that are up to date; with relevant information on changes to legislation on the issue. Sim has also got a wealth of knowledge and understanding relating to the subjects she specialises in; she keeps herself informed on the changes to the curriculum, Ofsted’s frameworks and safeguarding procedures. I would continue to work with Sim as I believe the staff in my department have all developed from her support.
Trishna Gautama, Head of Citizenship and PSHE, Stoke Newington School
KL Ed have supported the school in the strategic planning of our PSHEE provision and ensured that we are able to answer any questions from Ofsted about how PSHEE contributes to safeguarding, the PREVENT curriculum and British Values. Their contacts across a multitude of organisations ensures that our off-timetable days are inspirational, offering the students an opportunity to engage with a diverse range of activities and learn outside the box. Sim is an outstanding manager and teacher who builds effective relationships with colleagues, which has helped us to embed P4C within our curriculum. KL Ed are also reliable and flexible, tailoring their work to fit with the needs of the school. I have no hesitation in recommending KL Ed.
John O’Shea, Head of SEND, Borough of Tower Hamlets (Former Deputy Headteacher, Bow School)
Prior to training to teach at the Institute for Education, Sim worked for an educational charity, for BBC Schools and as a project manager running a UK-wide Human Rights awards scheme which brought together stakeholders from across the private and public sectors.
Her expertise in curriculum design and innovative teaching & learning practices is also built on the 10+ years she spend as a classroom teacher, Head of Citizenship & PSHEE, and Senior Leader in inner-city London schools. She now works closely with a number of primary and secondary schools, as well as charities and private sector organisations, on consultancy projects and teacher CPD.
Sim is also a registered SAPERE trainer and delivers independent Level 1 courses across the UK, alongside supporting schools in embedding Philosophy for Children into their curriculum plans and mentoring teachers.
